Job Summary

Options for Care is looking to recruit an exceptional Senior Clinical Psychologist who ispassionate about working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses. The successful candidate will be based at Stanford Court, our new mental health inpatient unit, located in Highgate, Birmingham.

Our two established hospitals, Montague Court and Dartmouth House, have successfully supported the needs of individuals with mental health diagnoses. We also have Orchard House, our recovery home, which provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals on their journey to mental health recovery.

Dartmouth House is a 16-bed male long-term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham.

Montague Court is an 18-bed male long-term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Stanford Court will be a 23-bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Highgate, Birmingham. This will consist of 19 high dependency beds and four self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment of daily living skills in preparation for discharge.

Orchard House is an 8-bed residential step-down service based in Erdington, Birmingham, which allows extension of the long-term complex care pathway.

Overview of main duties

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work with our service users across our inpatient units; providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, at the same time as offering advice and consultation on service users’ psychological care to the multi-disciplinary team. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. In addition, you will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

The assessments and interventions undertaken will be embedded within the framework of:

•           MDT principles of working

•           The SAFE model (shared assessment, formulation and education)

Job Description

As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, your role will involve developing the psychology service into our new hospital: Stanford Court. You will provide specialist psychological assessments to service users referred to the team, formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service user’s mental health problems. In addition the postholder will provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, contributing directly to service users’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.

You will undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual service users, utilising a team approach to the completion of START and associated formulations, and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management. You will also lead on reflective practice sessions and develop action plans with the multidisciplinary team to address issues raised.

JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will work as an integral part of the Hospital team. The post holder will assist in the co-ordination and cleanliness of all patient facilities/services in the ward area and to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of a clean and safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff. They will assist in maintaining quality standards and rectify or report any deficiencies found.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Principle Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the following:
• Maintain and order supplies, supported by administrative staff and management.
• Assist with coordinating all patient facilities and services in the ward area to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
• To monitor quality standards and work closely with others to ensure that deficiencies are rectified.
• Assist the Registered Manager in maintaining cleaning standards throughout the Hospital.
• To carry out spot cleaning and ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
• To assist in keeping the ward safe and tidy at all times, e.g. room cleaning.
• To maintain the upkeep of patients’ areas

Clinical
• Working with nursing staff, infection control nurses and cleaning contractors to ensure that patients are being cared for in an environment that minimises the risk of cross-infection.
• Ensure principles of infection control policies are applied at all times.
• Environment: Ensure the ward is clean and tidy and all stock cupboards are maintained to a high standard.
• Stock Control: Ensure that all ward stock is within date and rotated effectively

Professional
• Demonstration of caring and compassionate attributes
• Previous Housekeeping/ cleaning experience is desirable
• Ability to undertake appropriate training as required for the required clinical activities, according to the
workplace area.
Educational
• Numeracy and literacy level 1
• IT skills, Basic Word, E-mail, and keyboard skills


Organisational

• Maintenance of the environment to ensure patients are cared for in a well-maintained environment which is clean, safe, welcoming, and comfortable.
• Cleanliness: working closely with any contractor staff to ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas.
