Options for Care provides mental health recovery services in Birmingham. We have two inpatient hospital units and one community recovery home. Our goal is to support service users to realise their potential, working with individuals to improve their quality of life, leading to a gradual progression through the recovery pathway to eventual discharge.
Options for Care are looking to recruit a Support Worker for our exciting unit at Orchard House.
Orchard House is a 8-bed mental health community recovery home for men. This is a support-worker-led, step-down unit for service users that require continued recovery work within a less restrictive setting, based in Erdington, Birmingham.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Support Worker who has a genuine passion for working with people who have severe and enduring mental health diagnoses and are able to support our mission, vision and values.

Principle responsibilities:
- We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a genuine passion for working with people who have severe and enduring mental health diagnoses, providing compassionate care and promoting their independence.
- Service users are encouraged to develop their activity of daily living skills, focusing on budgeting, food preparation, nutrition, self-care, medication management and housekeeping.
- They are supported to include a balance of activities into their daily and weekly routines, ranging from their interests to more productive activities, in addition to establishing social links in the community.
- Our main aim is to assist the residents to meet their own goals, working towards increased independence.
- This service builds upon the recovery work already undertaken by individuals in hospital settings, providing support to residents in managing ongoing symptoms related to their mental and physical health and improving their overall quality of life.
- You will work as part of a team with the residents on their ongoing recovery and empower the residents to contribute to decisions affecting the unit.
- The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and document accurately following all interventions. To provide compassionate care, promoting independence of our residents who have severe and enduring mental health needs.
- To work as part of a team with the residents on their ongoing recovery.
